Update: January, 2009
We offered a healing altar call at both services on December 21, 2009. We were grateful that the Holy Spirit was present and led many of our church members to ask for prayer.
Praise God for bringing a sister in Christ to us for prayers. She has been renewed in the spirit and in her faithful walk with God!
The next healing ministry meeting is tentatively planned for January 11th at 6:30pm in our church library. We will be discussing relational healing. Moreover, we will be open to God’s call on healing relationships in both our personal lives, and church family.
Members of the congregation may contact Pastor Glenn, Karen Walsh or Phil Welch, Jr., to arrange for the pastor and/or healing ministers to visit them and friends in hospitals, nursing homes, their homes or over the phone.
Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”

Healing Ministry to Host a Study of Life of the Beloved by Henri Nouwen
Beginning Sunday, February 8, 2009, the healing team will be hosting a study of Henri Nouwen’s book, Life of the Beloved: Spiritual Living in a Secular World. Henri explains how the simple words “taken, blessed, broken and given” are representative of his life as a Christian. He is called “to become bread for the world: bread that is taken, blessed, broken and given.” The healing team is discerning God’s call to include healing of relationships in our ministry. We are stepping out in faithful obedience by sponsoring this study and opening it to members of the congregation.
We will meet every other Sunday for 8 sessions, from 6:30-8:00pm, in the church library. Healing ministers will facilitate these sessions. Please contact Phil Welch, Jr. (732-747-5032) if you are interested in more information on joining this study.

[Acts 3:6]
Update: April, 2009
Healing altar calls were offered at the services on April 19th. Praise God that members of all ages are coming forward for healing prayers for themselves and others. We have been blessed to witness the power of our Lord’s healing love upon several in our congregation. If you have suggestions on different ways to offer healing prayers before, during or after worship services, please see a healing minister.
In April we continued our small-group study of Henri Nouwen's book Life of the Beloved by looking at the final three movements of the Spirit identified by Nouwen – “Blessed,” “Broken” and “Given.” We will be concluding our study on May 3rd and 24th by discussing Nouwen’s thoughts on “Living as the Beloved.” Please contact Phil Welch, Jr., if you are interested in attending.
Praise God for the recuperation of Fred Walker and Robin Smith following serious surgeries recently. If you have experienced God’s healing love in the past year, please consider writing a paragraph describing your experience. Send it to Phil Welch, Jr., or Pastor Glenn, so it can be an encouragement and inspiration to others.

Update: October, 2009
Healing ministers met on October 11th to discuss a chapter in Mark Pearson’s book Christian Healing entitled “Being and Staying Well.” We reviewed points by Dr. Mary Grace Pearson (Mark’s wife) on how to be well and how to seek the abundant life – physical, emotional and spiritual – that Jesus promised us.
The healing ministry also offered healing altar calls at both services on Laity Sunday, October 19th.
The next healing ministry meeting is tentatively planned for Sunday, November 8th, 6:30pm in the church library. We will be discussing the first chapter in Charles Stanley’s book, The Gift of Forgiveness. This chapter, entitled “Forgiveness and Freedom,” talks about three essential elements of forgiveness and why the person with an unforgiving spirit really loses in the long run. We welcome interested members to join us in learning why God wants us to forgive, as God has forgiven us.

Update: December, 2009
Healing ministers met on November 8th to discuss Chapter 1 - “Forgiveness and Freedom” in Charles Stanley’s book The Gift of Forgiveness. We reviewed the three essential elements of forgiveness, and why the person with an unforgiving spirit truly loses in the long run.

The next healing ministry meeting is planned for Sunday, December 13th, 6:30pm in the church library. We will be discussing the second chapter in The Gift of Forgiveness entitled “The Big Picture.” In this chapter Stanley talks about basic concepts, such as:
· What our just God requires when we sin, and the second chances our merciful God provides to reestablish fellowship with God.
· How our forgiving God provided for “atonement” of sin through the Old Testament’s sacrificial system.
· What our loving God wants more than retribution for our sin.
· What we too often allow to get in the way of accepting God’s forgiveness.
We welcome interested members to join us in discussing these basic concepts related to forgiveness. Members of the congregation may contact Pastor Glenn or Phil Welch, Jr., to arrange for the pastor and/or healing ministers to visit and pray with them and loved ones in hospitals, nursing homes, their homes or over the phone.
