For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord.
(2 Timothy 1.7-8)
We have nothing to be ashamed of when it comes to the testimony, the power, the love, the commitment of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Yet, all too often we act ashamed, timid, when it comes to living our faith and sharing the faith. We should share the faith by word and actions not in offensive ways but neither in ashamed ways too. The Gospel that we believe and are called to share is the power of God. Therefore let us go and share. I look forward to worshiping the Living God with you this Sunday at 10am. Peace and God's blessings.

In Christ
Pastor Derrick

P.S. I am excited to share that the children's nursery is open this Sunday during worship for the younger children. Ms. Denise has been anxiously awaiting this day, looking forward to playing with the children again.

Registration for MUMC's 2021 Summer Camp Is Now Open!

We are looking forward to a fun filled 2021 Summer Camp. Our theme is: Treasured: Discovering You Are Priceless to God. Through games, videos, songs and more we will all be reminded of just how treasured we are by God!

This year we will be following all CDC and state COVID guidelines. All children must be potty-trained, able to wear their own face covering, and understand the need to be socially distant from others. We foresee that face coverings and social distancing will be required.

We will be offering a virtual option for additional people to join the fun. We will be sharing all guidelines in advance with registered participants.

Volunteers Needed for MUMC's Summer Camp

Due to COVID safety protocols additional adult help is needed to maintain COVID guidelines while also creating an outstanding week of fun for the children. Parents, your help is needed. Please register for at least 1 day as an adult helper at the link above.

Village Of Children and Families

Thanks to all who have made donations to the Village of Children and Families. You have been especially generous. We will be collecting for the next two weeks and then the items collected will be delivered. We will begin again in September. The items being collected now are hygiene items...shampoo, cream rinse, toothbrushes, baby shampoo, baby lotion, body wash, etc. If you have gently used clothing for all ages they are gratefully accepted. Our last day will be May 30th. Thank you again for all you have donated.

Thank You From ASLAN Youth Ministries
Hello All,
Just wanted to thank you so very much for participating in our annual Easter Food Drive. Thanks to the kind generosity of folks like you and the congregations you represent, we were able to distribute 180 bags of food plus hams to our 70 plus families! At least two bags per family! Such an outpouring of love!
We appreciate all that you did to brighten Easter for so many and for your on
going support. We could not possibly do what we do without your help.
God bless you,
Janis, Volunteer Coordinator

Every month our Leadership Team assesses and updates as needed our own COVID protocols. This past week the Leadership Team updated our protocols
The three major updates:
1. Capacity for the sanctuary has been updated to 60 people
2. Church and community groups will be allowed to use the church building (Fellowship Hall only) throughout the day while our preschool is not in session
3. Fellowship discussions are now encouraged in the Fellowship Hall and in the parking lot (not in the hallways) while continuing to wear our face coverings and maintaining social distancingg.

Readers Needed
We are in need of people to read the call to worship and Scripture readings during our worship celebration. Whether you are joining the worship celebration in person, via the live stream, or the conference call, we would like you to help with a reading. You can pre-record yourself with the reading and then submit the video to the church office. Anyone interested in reading please contact Joe Spinelli directly or reach out to the church office.

ReOpening Plan Reminder
Recently the Leadership Team reassessed our ReOpening Plan.
The Leadership Team has decided to recommit to our ReOpening plan and strongly reminds everyone of the following:
Sunday Morning we offer three different ways for people to join in worship: in person, the livestream, and the conference call.

For those joining worship in person, you must follow the state guidelines regarding self quarantining. Attending worship does not exempt you from self quarantining requirements if you have been traveling, tested positive for COVID19, being in proximity to someone who has tested positive, and so on. If you are planning on attending worship in person but are currently self quarantining by the state guidelines, PLEASE STAY HOME and join worship via the live stream or conference call.

For those attending worship in person, please remember, face coverings and social distancing must be maintained. There is to be no standing and talking in the hallways or sanctuary. A welcome team member will direct you to your seat and direct you when it is time to leave. Unfortunately at this time, only our worship leadership will be singing, everyone else in the sanctuary is asked to speak the words to the songs. Please save all conversations for outside while still maintaining social distancing and using your face covering.

 MUMC Security
In light of recent security threats to other Middletown houses of worship and attacks on other churches throughout the nation our own security team has continued to be very active, even during the COVID19 pandemic. Through the diligent work of our security team we have received a security personnel grant from the New Jersey Department of Homeland Security and Preparedness for the 2020/2021 year. This means that we will be able to have a paid security personnel at our facility for our worship celebrations and other random times to deter violence. When you attend worship face-to-face you may notice a new friendly face, our security personnel. This person is a trained, professional who is present to partner with us in providing a safe place within God's house. Please introduce yourself and welcome them. Questions, please ask any member of our church's security team.

Knit One, Prayer Too

Knit One, Prayer Too! Our knitting/crocheting ministry is virtual, and thriving! During the past year, we have made and donated over 1,200 items of warmth and love. New and current members can get the latest info, current project details, or view past projects, on our Facebook page, Knit One, Prayer Too!, or email Kim, at knitoneprayertoo@gmail.com

Keyport Food Pantry
So many are experiencing great difficulties during the health emergency. The Keyport Food Pantry is really in need of food to give to those folks who are out of work and unable to feed their families. Our congregation can help. Plastic bins will be placed outside the double doors facing the DRIVEWAY where you will be able to place your donation of food. Because there are a few bins placed there…the bins for food donations will be clearly marked. The pantry is specifically asking for cereal, pasta, pasta sauce and canned vegetables. You can donate anything but they are running low on these items. You can also drop these much needed items off at a Sunday drive through. Thank you in advance…I know you will all help.

MUMC COVID 19 FUND
MUMC has created a fund for donations that will help anyone affected by the coronavirus. To date, we have received many generous contributions - amen and thank you!
These funds have been put to good use by providing meals to health care employees at both Riverview and Bayshore Hospitals, on a weekly basis for about two months. We have had the ability to use several of the super volunteers for the Door Step Deliveries to help facilitate this. Please let us kow if you have any suggestions You can contact Nanci Illingworth, Denise Goudsward, or any member of the Missions Team. If you have a request that you would prefer to remain confidential, please contact Pastor Derrick.
If you would like to donate to the Covid 19 Fund, you have several options: 1) you can log into REALM, and go to the Giving page. There will be a drop-down menu that offers a choice for where you would like your donation to be given. Just click on Covid 19 Fund. 2) you can mail your donation to MUMC at 924 Middletown-Lincroft Rd., Middletown, NJ 07748; or 3) send your donation electronically through your bank. Thank you all for your generosity!!!!
