Habitat Volunteers Needed!!
September 24, 2008
Northeast Monmouth County Habitat for Humanity has just begun work on a new home in Keansburg (25 Campview Place). If you are interested in joining (or organizing) a work crew on a Saturday or Wednesday, or providing lunch for the workers, please contact Phil Welch, Jr. (732-747-5032). We should have a tentative work schedule available shortly with the expected types of work by week (weather permitting). Much work must be done in October and November in order to get this house enclosed by early December.
June, 2008
Here are two upcoming opportunities for new and experienced volunteers with Northeast Monmouth Habitat for Humanity (formerly Long Branch Habitat for Humanity):
- Habitat will be prefabricating wall panels during the second week in June (6/12-6/15). These panels will be used to build housing for local families or will be shipped to the Gulf Coast for use there. This year’s fund-raising build will be held at Rittenhouse Kerr Ford, 700 Shrewsbury Avenue, Red Bank. Typically, this work is done in two shifts each day from about 9am to Noon and 1-4pm.
- After a multi-year search, this affiliate has just purchased property in Keansburg. Work will most likely begin in July on a new house there. We will be working with the prospective new owners, who must contribute several hundred hours of “sweat equity.” Volunteers typically work on Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 9am until about 2pm.
More information will be provided on both of these, as it becomes available. If you would like to sign up for either one or have questions, please contact Phil Welch (732-747-5032).
