Where you're family!

Food Ministerium

Update: August 28, 2008

This month (September) we are collecting food items in the basket in the narthex for Keyport.   Now more than ever because of the skyrocketing prices for food we need to remember our Mission Pantry in Keyport when we do our own shopping.  Just imagine what most of the families they support are going through when the price of a tank of gas is $50.  With our help we can make a difference over the next few weeks of September in the amount of foods items available to each family.

If each church family would bring in ONE food item a week this month and place it in the basket in the narthex volunteers at the Pantry would be delighted.  They tell us to thank our members each time we make a delivery.

Also during this month our Sunday school teachers will be asking students to bring in food items as part of their stewardship responsibilities. More info on this will be in Weekly bulletins.

Update: July 17, 2008

Keyport Ministerium Food Pantry’s Twenty-fifth Anniversary Year.

KMFP was born in 1983 to serve a small group of families in the Bayshore area with needed food.  Over these years the need has grown as has the pantry’s effort to “go the last mile” to help those less fortunate.

To recognize this milestone in their history Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders presented these dedicated KMFP volunteers with a proclamation during their regular meeting July 10th.  Click on each picture to view enlarged.

The 2nd picture is the Village of Keyport Town Council at their regular meeting.

They also recognized the Pantry for its twenty-five years of dedication to the needs of its residents in the Northern Bayshore Area as shown in the 3rd picture, Robin Smith of the MUMC Ministries Team (right) visits with Dot Bennett pantry volunteer (left), on a recent visit to the Pantry.

At the presentation from left to right: Isaiah G. Cooper KMFP Director, Vera Reed Founder’s wife, Helen Vincent volunteer, Sarah Carman volunteer, Barbara McMorrow Monmouth County Freeholder, Ann Scheller Trustee, Maria Connors registrar and Ken Connors Trustee.
